Configuration Management Competence
Konfigurationsmanagement wird bei IBW traditionell seit den frühen Tagen des Unternehmens Mitte der 1980er Jahre als damaliges Kerngeschäft weiterhin betrieben und obliegt dem Geschäftsinhaber, Herrn Wolfgang Weiss. Herr Weiss ist seit diesen Tagen aktives Mitglied des SAE (früher EIA) Komitees G-33 für Konfigurationsmanagement. Für viele der daraus entstandenen CM Standards ‒ z.B., SAE/EIA-649C ‒ war und ist Herr Weiss Co-Autor. Bevor die European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) Plattform ins Leben gerufen wurde, hatte IBW unter Auftrag der European Space Agency (ESA) eine PSS Serie von CM Standards für ESA entwickelt, welche anschließend zum Großteil in den Standard ECSS-M-40 übertragen wurden, wofür Herr Weiss ebenfalls Co-Autor war.
Auf dieser Grundlage hat sich über die Jahre CMC als Geschäftsbereich von IBW etabliert. Anhand zahlreicher Aufträge aus der einschlägigen zivilen und militärischen Industrie hat CMC beim Aufbau und Betrieb von KM Geschäftsfunktionen maßgeblich mitgewirkt.
Since the foundation of IBW mid 1980’s, Configuration Management ‒ then the core business ‒ has been traditionally continued besides the growing engineering consultancy and development work.
Lead of CMC is Mr Wolfgang Weiss, the proprietor of IBW. Mr Weiss is since then active member of the SAE (formerly EIA) Committee G-33 on Configuration Management. For many of the G-33 standards ‒ e.g., SAE/EIA-649C ‒ Mr Weiss was and is co-author. Prior to establishment of the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) platform, IBW had been awarded by the European Space Agency (ESA) for establishing a series of their PSS documents for ESA’s new CM requirements. These standards were predominately used in creating later ECSS-M-40 for which Mr Weiss was co-author as well.
On this basis, CMC had been constituted as a business unit of IBW. Under numerous orders from civil and military industries, CMC had supported the establishment of CM business functionalities and did oversee the operation phase.
